Funding has been secured from the Architectural Heritage Fund and the National Lottery Heritage Fund to deliver an Options Appraisal Enhancement for the former Charity School and adjoining no.24 Church Street, Edmonton.
These Grade II listed buildings have been out of use for nearly 10 years, following a deterioration of their condition and consequential limitations on public access. They were put on the Heritage at Risk Register in 2012 and an Options Appraisal was completed at that time. We’re now leading on undertaking a review and enhancement of the appraisal to bring it up to date and identify a long-term future for the site.
We’re working closely with Enfield Council, the Diocese of London, the Enfield Society and Historic England and have developed a programme of project activities to complement the study, more details will be released shortly.
Following recent occupation by squatters and significant damage to the interiors of the Charity School, Live-in Guardians (https://www.liveinguardians.com) are undertaking urgent repair works and supporting the project with a £12,000 donation in kind.
