Grade II Listed
The Abbey Mills Pumping Station site in Newham is a spectacular example of Victorian engineering and was designed by renowned engineer Sir Joseph Bazalgette as part of his landmark project to create a sewer system to clean up the capital. It was built between 1865-68.
We commissioned an options appraisal for the Grade II* listed buildings and structures that comprise the pumping station and a Conservation Management Plan for the site and adjoining areas.
The site is in the ownership of Thames Water.
